Celebrating friendships and new beginnings
I miss blogging and writing just for the heck of it! It surely is a new beginning. A lot of things has changed since I last posted in this blog but it's a good kind of change.
I'm so excited to share with you guys my new hair! Although all the pictures are taken with a cellphone camera, it looks awesome nonetheless. I got tired of looking like a grandma so I decided to chop it all off. I was supposed to get a pixie cut but the guy told me to try a boxed bob because it's my first time to have short hair after a very long time. So yeah. I have a boxed bob, whatever that is. It doesn't help that I have naturally wavy hair though so the hairstyle is now all poofy and weird.
The back part. Photo courtesy of my bestfriend. She said that it looked awesome in the back. I still have mixed feelings with this haircut although I do admit that it's a very stress-free cut. Heck, no combing required which was a pleasant surprise. I want it to grow naturally again because it's been damaged by straightening chemicals. That's one of the reasons why I want to cut it. I love having short hair!

With my best-est friend ever! She's leaving for Australia really soon and I admit that I'm going to miss her terribly :'( But life must go on! We'll still communicate ofcourse. We didn't become friends for 7 years just to throw it all away. I hope she stays happy there.

The Ikumi pose!
Look! we're doing the Ikumi pose together! ♥ Can't live without friends and true friends are even harder to find so treasure them because you'll never find anyone quite like them. The friends that matter are those who are always there for you whenever you need them. You may experience some bumpy roads and you may even lose track of each other but in the end, you'll always remain friends because you never stopped caring about each other and that's something very special, worth remembering.

Tropical Road trip
I know that I live in a tropical country and this blog may not make it past 2014 but I would just like to share my photos from our road trip yesterday while going to my grandmother's hometown. It's located in a province and it's very much different from the city (queue in very tall coconut trees and lush greenery).
It's a very refreshing experience to take a break from the life that you've grown accustomed to and travelling down to memory lane into a place where only good things happened. It's like our own private island. It's been a year since I went back to this place and everything felt so new to me. Not only because the province has changed but also because I have changed. I have more appreciation for it now.
We made a pit stop at some bakery where they sold very delicious bread. It's a famous stop among travellers (or is it just us? haha) It's become some sort of a tradition for us to stop by nonetheless.
Random photos while at the gas station. This scene is more common that you'd think, especially in provinces.
I don't know what this plant is called but it grew cotton? It overpowered my grandmothers' front garden.
This photo wasn't rotated, lol. Sorry but I'm not sorry.
Excuse the funny photo but this is the front view of the house. Crappy photo, I know.
I brought this little cutie with me but my cousin ended up opening the back (the second time this happened!) and I vaguely remember giving a mild tantrum but got I got over myself. Lesson learned? Never let anyone hold your film camera. Especially if they don't know how it works.
This is the altar. It looks very kitschy and creepy to me. That's an old gas burner in the corner. This reminds me so much of Rookiemag.
I don't know what to call this flower actually. Is it a daisy? I found a big bush in my grandmothers' garden and it looks rad.
I just recently learned that these kinds of patterns are called kolam in India. It's supposed to keep you safe.
I've had this recent obsession of taking pictures of coke wherever I go. It's weird but whatever.
A no smoking sign in this little store cottage that we went to. The weather was super hot that day!
We went to our aunts place to take a shower because there was no water in my grandmas house! It was a complete nightmare because the heat was literally burning our skin. This is the hottest summer weather I've ever experienced.
Yey, the rotated version taken by Lomo cam. This app is awesome.
If you guys haven't tried balut/pinoy then you seriously should! It tastes legit awesome.
We went to the newly improved sea wall only to find the most perfect view of a sunset. It was so beautiful and romantic.
I have like 20 photos of the sunset and it was a struggle finding only one to post here.
And this beautiful mirage right here is the perfect of Camiguin Island. It looks like a painting. So dreamy and mysterious.
This is my ultimate travel buddy and cousin extraordinaire who's always up for an adventure. She seriously pushes me out of my comfort zone.
And an ugly photo of myself. Please feel free to scroll down.
The clouds were pink! It looked like a cotton candy.
The railings weren't there before and I kind of miss it because we used to sit on the edge all the time.
Me (although you could barely see my face). My niece snapped this picture and she was climbing on top of a mango tree which explains why there are leaves haha
I call this one the Ikumi pose. It's becoming my new favorite asian pose as of late.
and I shall call this one the American Peace pose haha
I found crabs in my soup! Kidding. Is it too early to have crabs for breakfast? I think not. This little critter was delicious! And it was the highlight of my morning to be honest.
Santan bracelets! I miss doing this. I used to make tons of these for bracelets and head wreaths.
We also visited the cemetery before we left to visit our deceased loved ones. It was scorching hot.
The cemetery was filled with these pink flowers. It looked really magical and cute as opposed to creepy and sad.
A beautiful accident. Don't you just love it when unexpected things happen?
I've never actually seen a real dandelion so I was psyched out when I found these growing everywhere. I had to make a wish and blew it into the air.
The lighted candles to light the way of the departed.
Overexposed photo of my feet with the pink crawlers that's been growing all over the cemetery.
We have this custom that whenever we leave the cemetery, we make a fire out of dead leaves and cross over it so that all the bad spirits and diseases will stay in the cemetery and not come with you to wherever you're going. Pretty creepy huh? Filipino's are deeply spiritual people so we have a lot of superstition but we don't necessarily have to believe all of them.
So that was my weekend tropical road trip! Hope you had a fun weekend too. My summer classes officially start tomorrow. Wish me luck!
xx
